Doing things ‘for the love of it’

Since going freelance nine years ago and spending long chunks of time in isolation sitting in front of a screen  being a Web Content Writer, I have battled with the question ‘am I doing this for the love of it?’

Yes, writing web content is a skill I can offer and a skill that fits in well in today’s ever-evolving age of digital technology and need for companies to invest in online ‘shop windows’.  And, yes, I do enjoy it.

And yet, I constantly ask myself ‘is this really me?’  And am I ‘doing it for the love of it?’  And what do I miss while sitting on my own for long chunks of time in front of a screen?   (The ‘joy of movement’ for starters!)

So, to redress the balance,  I have found two things that I ‘love’ doing (apart from spending time with friends and family) that don’t involve long sessions of ‘sitting’ and ‘screen-work’ and that aren’t based on financial reward.

These are:

  1. Wonderful Nia, that gets air to my lungs,  movement to my joints, blood to my heart, and refreshment to my brain.

Nia love your body

  1. Promoting beautiful Fish Art painted by my (now deceased) cousin James Gibbs, that brings pleasure to my soul as I witness his creative passion being enjoyed and appreciated by so many others.

Of course, my days still involve a juggling act, however, I no longer feel drained by all-consuming brain energy.  And I love the way that Nia is a daily reminder of the pleasure of whole body movement that is such a joy for body and soul.

What do you do in your life for the ‘love’ of it?
